Singing has always been Madieke’s biggest passion. From singing in choruses as a child, doing musical theater in school she went to the conservatory where she took her chance to turn her passion into a musical profession.
After she graduated ‘with honors’ from the Utrecht Conservatory she specialized in opera in the Dutch Opera Studio. On her repertoire are roles like Niklausse, Dido, Carmen and Cenerentola. She sang with various opera companies such as The National Opera of the Netherlands, Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera Zuid, Holland Opera and Opera Sanga. Besides the traditional productions Madieke sang operas translated in Dutch and musical theatre productions specially made for children.
Madieke is also comfortable in singing chamber music and lieder. With her harpist friend Vera Kool she forms Duo Youkali.
